Children, Teens & Family Therapy

Helping children and families navigate challenges together.

Children and teens can experience emotions and challenges that are difficult to understand or express. Changes in behavior, anxiety, anger, withdrawal, or struggles at school may be signs that they need additional support.

At Peaceful Mind, therapy provides children, teens, and families with a supportive space to better understand these challenges, build healthier ways of communicating, and strengthen relationships.

What Brings Children, Teens & Families to Therapy?

  • Anxiety, worry, or emotional distress

  • Anger and difficulty managing emotions

  • Behavioral changes or concerns

  • School, social, or peer difficulties

  • Communication problems within the family

  • Parenting challenges or differences in parenting styles

  • Blended family adjustments

  • Family conflict or relationship difficulties

  • Grief, loss, or major life changes

  • Trauma and difficult experiences

  • Mental health concerns affecting the family

  • Substance-use or addiction concerns within the family

Understand the Child. Support the Family.

Children and teens may communicate their needs through behavior when they don't yet have the words to explain what they're experiencing.

Therapy can help children and teens develop emotional awareness and coping skills while giving parents and families a better understanding of their child's experiences and needs.

What We Work On

Emotional Regulation — Help children and teens recognize, express, and manage difficult emotions in healthier ways.

Behavior & Communication — Explore the emotions and experiences behind challenging behaviors while developing more effective ways to communicate.

School & Social Challenges — Support children and teens experiencing academic difficulties, peer concerns, bullying, or social challenges.

Family Relationships — Improve communication, work through disagreements, and strengthen connections between family members.

Life Changes & Loss — Help children and families adjust to divorce, separation, blended families, relocation, grief, loss, and other significant changes.

A Personalized Approach

Every child is different. Every family is different.

Genean adapts therapy to each child's age, developmental stage, personality, needs, and circumstances. Depending on the child or teen, sessions may incorporate play, sand tray, expressive arts, mindfulness, CBT/DBT-informed skills, somatic approaches, and EMDR when appropriate.

Family sessions and parent consultation may also be included when they can support the child's progress and strengthen the family as a whole.

A Supportive Space for Children & Families

Therapy allows children and teens to feel heard and understood while helping families work through challenges together.

The goal is not simply to address difficult behavior, but to understand what may be underneath it and create healthier ways forward.
